The Placer County Wine Trail is a series of small family-run boutique wineries each dedicated to preserving the historic winemaking legacy of the California Sierra Foothills with passion and craftsmanship.
Just a short 30 minute drive from Sacramento, the trail runs from Lincoln to Newcastle and Auburn and is easily accessible from I-80 and Highway 49.
Varietals include the highly floral Viognier to dark-berried Tempranillo and lush Barbera as just some of the samplings. Other award winning wines include smoky and spiced Syrahs, Petite Sirah and adventurous blends. Cabernet Franc and flavor-intense Zinfandel and dessert wine offerings provide plentiful options for every taste and occasion.
Located midway between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, many flock here for a pleasure not found in other appellations – the chance to meet the winemakers. They gladly share their enthusiasm with a sample of their finest.

Parking is located at the main museum parking lot just a short walk from the winery.

The Estate specializes in hand-crafting limited production single-vineyard and field-blended estate wines and extra virgin olive oils, in the finest old-world tradition.
The Estate's vineyards and olive groves have been planted in such a manner as to encourage exploration while strolling throughout the estate. 15 different grape varietals and 4 different olive varietals grow on the estate, allowing for a wide array of bottlings and blends.
The Vineyards are farmed gently in an organic, sustainable fashion, aimed at creating a naturally balanced vineyard environment. Harvest is based on touch and smell, taste and look, rather than lab reports. The winemaking techniques utilize the natural force of gravity to promote gentle handling of the wine during its creation. Slow fermentation and lengthy ageing also contribute to allow for full expression of the vineyard in the wine.
Experience our award-winning wines and olive oils at "3Vigne", our enoteca-style tasting room, located in the Historic High Hand Fruit Shed in Loomis, open to the public every weekend from 12-5pm.
The Cristaldi Estate is open for tours and tasting by appointment only from February through November.

Featuring fine wines made from locally grown grapes, we strive to capture the unique characteristics of the foothill grapes, instilled by the historic fruit and vineyard terroir of the Loomis Basin. From the late 1800’s until their removal in 1954, the property supported Zinfandel vines. In 1998 vines were once again planted and our Estate Wines come from these vineyards. Other varietals are produced with equal care, come from small Loomis Basin growers whose grapes exhibit their own unique qualities.

Featuring fine wines made from locally grown grapes, we strive to capture the unique characteristics of the foothill grapes, instilled by the historic fruit and vineyard terroir of the Loomis Basin. From the late 1800’s until their removal in 1954, the property supported Zinfandel vines. In 1998 vines were once again planted and our Estate Wines come from these vineyards. Other varietals are produced with equal care, come from small Loomis Basin growers whose grapes exhibit their own unique qualities.

In a tribute to their heritage, the Mendez family’s vineyard is planted with Mediterranean varietals, including the Spanish Tempranillo, Garnacha (Grenache), Monastrell (Mourvedre), as well as the Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The family selected varietals which thrive in the foothill soil and micro-climate. From its meticulously farmed vines, yielding small quantities of fruit, celebrated winemaker Chris Markell has handcrafted small limited releases including Syrah Rosé, Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
